-Burger King is at it again, releasing another commercial with that freaky Burger King guy. What about this guy makes them think he’s good marketing? While I haven’t met anyone quite as creeped out by him as I am, he seems to make everyone uncomfortable. Something about a non-moving plastic face and tights will do that.
-I don’t think there is anyone’s writing that I look forward to like Bill Simmons of ESPN2.
He knows and loves his sports, loves The Contender and loves pop culture, mixing all together in the best columns I think I’ve ever read. He’s had me laughing out loud at work many times.
-Watch The Contender. Just watch it. If you haven’t, make time. It’s a reality show with boxers, with the best parts of other reality shows (competition, a little drama) and minus the worst (these guys just want a shot and aren’t in it to be hosting The View somewhere down the road). Plus, as Bill Simmons notes, it's high on the Unintentional Comedy Scale because it's hosted by Sly Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard. It’s on Sunday nights, NBC, at 8 EST.
-If you’re in Maryland this weekend, think about checking out my sis and her improv group, B.I.G . Here you can read about them. (Note, Heather is *not* 46.) Here’s their schedule and their homepage. My sis is the one dressed up as a cartoon raptor amidst the others in suits and skirts. Plus, all the proceeds from their shows goes directly to orphans from the Crimean War.
-Our volleyball season wraps this coming weekend. We’re playing in regionals in Columbus. The past few tournaments we’ve played we’ve played up a level and looked pretty bad doing it. But we’re one of the top B teams in the state so I think we’re going to do fine.
-I’ve been sick with sinus and breathing problems for over 3 weeks now. I’ve been to the doctor’s twice and gotten antibiotics, a steroid shot, an inhaler, Flonase, decongestant and eye shadow. Not sure about the last one. Think my doc is strange.
Anyway, the inhaler is a result of the most scared I’ve ever been. Woke up one night coughing and was all of a sudden unable to breathe. The passage had closed. I’m thrashing about in my apartment, trying to breathe, making these horrible wheezing sounds. I honestly wondered if I was going to take another breathe. Eventually, I was able to take small breaths, then larger ones then I was fine. But let’s just say I found it difficult to get back to sleep. Apparently, that’s what a full-on asthma attack is. Once the season is over this weekend, I’m going back to the doc and we’re doing whatever it takes to get this fixed. Nothing they’ve given me has done anything for the cause. Only helped w/ the symptoms.
-Will Ferrell's funniest sketch ever (I know that IS a bold statement).
