Voting Results

I only voted on a couple of issues. In Ohio, a constitutional amendment to ban smoking in public was on the ballot along w/ another amendment to repeal a bunch of local laws banning smoking.

I voted against both. The first one is a no brainer. A constitutional amendment to ban smoking? What the fudge? This would mainly affect bars, restauarants, bowling alleys etc. It's a pretty simple concept to understand that those choices should be up to the owners of those places. It blows me away that people would not just vote to ban it but to AMEND THE CONSTITUTION to ban it.

I voted against the opposing amendment because I don't think either side deserves to be an amendment to the constitution. Amendments should be rare and, as with the American Constitution, it should restrict what the goverment can do, not what private citizens choose to do with their own property.

So what do my fellow idiots in Ohio do? They vote for the smoking ban. Man, people's stupidty just blows me away...to the point where I want to punch them all. No one trusts the marketplace.

They also voted to raise the minimum wage again. Another silly move. Nevermind the countless studies that show raising the minumum wage kills lower paying jobs. Oh yeah, this was also a constitutional amendment. People are just dumb. Maybe I'll move to New Hampshire or a place like Idaho or Montana where there is still some semblance of freedom of choice and personal responsibility.

I didn't bother to vote for Gov, House or Senate. The Republicans are a ridiculous mess. Corrupt and have no idea of the principles they ran on. They don't deserve to keep control of either chamber. I didn't vote Democrat because I still have my self respect. That...and the Dems run on only one thing lately...they aren't Republicans. Really, no issues. The Dems are actually a bigger mess than the Republicans. But I'm of the belief now that gridlock is good. Whichever party holds the executive, the rival party needs to have Congress.

Despite the cynical sounds of it, life is actually good. Just finishing a week long vacation to Phoenix and Vegas!
